SSPS partners with Georgian College for mentorship program

Saugeen Sores Police Service has announced a partnership with Georgian College that will see SSPS members mentoring current Police Foundation students.

The mentorship will take place virtually and last for five weeks with the officer committing 6 to 10 hours of time with the student.

“We are excited to partner with Georgian College to share our knowledge and experiences, with a united goal of developing our next generation of police officers”, said Chief of Police Kevin Zettel. “This will also be rewarding for our officers to mentor a young candidate and hopefully chart their progress”, added the Chief.

Chief Zettel says the officer and the student will discuss topics ranging from police response to mental health and victims of crime to domestic abuse and offences against children.

This program will also involve other local municipal police services and the Ontario Provincial Police.
