Grey, Bruce to receive more vaccines

The Grey Bruce Health Unit has numbers now from the Ministry of Health on shipments of COVID-19 vaccines in the coming weeks.

This week they expect 700 doses from Moderna. The week of Feb. 15 the region she get approximately 3000 doses from Pfizer. And another 4000 Pfizer doses should arrive the week of Feb. 22.

The vaccines will be used to complete the initial doses to all residents of long-term care homes. Then public health expects to vaccinate long-term care staff and essential caregivers as well as 2nd dose for some long-term care residents. Hospital Staff would be next.

After that, as supply permits, first doses will also be administered to retirement home residents and staff, and then doses will be administered to Saugeen First Nation and Chippewa of Nawash residents.

So far, 800 doses have been injected in Grey Bruce.

The vaccines will be administered according to The Grey Bruce Health Unit COVID-19 Vaccination Program Plan.
