Minto Mayor George Bridge re-elected as Chair of the WOWC Economic Development Committee

Minto Mayor and Wellington County Councillor George Bridge has been re-elected the Chair of the Western Ontario Wardens Caucus’ Economic Development Committee on a one-year term.

As chair, Bridge will oversee developments in the Economic Development Committee's Economic Development Plan, which highlights four regional strategic priorities. Those are Regional Workforce Planning, Regional Infrastructure Investment, Regional Sector Strategies and Regional Marketing and Promotion. 2021 will see some key projects tackled in the region by the Western Ontario Warden's Caucus, including a Regional Workforce Strategy, mapping the region’s agri-food and manufacturing assets and offering support for SWIFT 2.0 and increased investment in Western Ontario’s broadband infrastructure.

The Western Ontario Wardens Caucus’ Economic Development Committee focuses on regional approaches to handling a transforming economy, with the focus on regional economic development opportunities that can have positive implications for the entire regional economy.

“I’m honoured to have been re-elected Chair of this important committee,” says Bridge. “A key component of moving the economic development programme forward will be assessing the impacts that COVID-19 is having on the region and how we can best position the region for recovery.”
