Bruce County's Human Services Committee has approved the Community Homelessness Prevention Initiative (CHPI) Investment Plan for 2021 and 2022, according to the published highlights of the meeting. The report says the total CHPI allocation for 2021-2022 is $729,553.
The report in the published highlights from their recent meeting says the plan aims to prevent, address, and reduce homelessness by improving access to adequate and affordable housing that is linked to flexible support services. It says the two main objectives are: to assist people experiencing homelessness obtain and retain housing, and to assist people at risk of homelessness to remain housed. The report adds the allocation includes $60,000 for Emergency Shelter Solutions, $261,992 for Services & Supports, $334,608 for Homelessness Prevention, and $72,952 for Program Administration
The report says Bruce County has developed a partnership with the YMCA to provide housing and emergency services to residents who are experiencing homelessness. Assistance is also provided to residents at risk of becoming homeless through the Housing Stability Fund and the Community Support Program.
