Hanover Police lay manslaughter charge in overdose death

A media release from Hanover Police Services says a 2-month investigation into the overdose death of a 27-year-old Hanover woman has resulted in manslaughter charges.

Police say John Kevin McPhee, 38, of no fixed address is charged with Manslaughter, Trafficking in Fentanyl – two counts, Possession for the Purposes of Trafficking in Fentanyl and Possession of a Controlled Substance. Police say Mcphee remains in custody after a court appearance Thursday.

Police say Fentanyl continues to be a significant public health risk across Canada and beyond that has claimed the lives of 28 people in Grey-Bruce during the past two years alone
