Huron trails part of tourism focus

The trail system in Huron County was a focus of a recent virtual Tourism Summit.

Rick Sickinger is Huron County's Acting Tourism Development Officer.

He says while there was discussion about what makes Huron County unique, one of the finer points of the talk was about trails with guest speaker Chris Hughes of BC Hughes Tourism Development.

Huges was involved in Explore the Bruce at one time and Sickinger says they looked at trails in Huron County that could attract tourists.

“So we collected that information and BC Hughes provided a report back to us, so now Economic Development is looking to implement some of those experiential trails for tourism in our 2021 season,” said Sickinger.

And while most of the tourism operators who participated in the Summit are looking forward to a successful season, there is still work to be done.

“There's obviously concern. We're not out of the woods by any means yet, but we do have some advantages that some urban areas may not have and that, all things considered, we should have a fairly successful tourism season again in 2021,” added Sickinger.
