Shakespeare area family donates and looks to inspire during United Way campaign

United Way Perth-Huron's annual campaign is over 90% of its goal.

That target is $1,762,200.

And the campaign got a little extra push from a Shakespeare-area farm family.

Duane and Jennifer Dietrich and their sons Kole and Chase have pledged $6,000 as Leader Match donors to inspire five other people to make a Leadership level donation of $100 per month.

“We care about our community and want to help,” said Jennifer Dietrich. “So when Martin Ritsma approached us with the idea of becoming Leader Match donors, we thought it was a great opportunity to support people where we live and motivate others to give back through United Way.”

United Way Perth-Huron supports close to 50 partners and programs across the region that deliver services for those who need help.

“We’re grateful to Duane and Jennifer,” added UWPH Campaign Co-chair Martin Ritsma. “Hard-working farm families like theirs are the backbone of Perth-Huron. As a sector, agriculture contributes so much to our community. We’re proud to welcome the Dietrichs to the UWPH family of donors to help support the most vulnerable.”

There is also an Urgent Needs Fund, which already supported 665 people since its creation in May of 2020.

The fund supports local residents in a time of crisis with money for essentials like rent, groceries and medication.
