Huron, Bruce and Grey Counties have declared a significant weather event due to the drifting and blowing snow. The declaration means weather conditions are making it difficult to keep the roads maintained to standards.Highway 6 is now closed from just north of Durham to Williamsford due to poor driving conditions.
Grey Road 4 is closed from Durham to Hanover in both directions, due to poor weather conditions.
Highway 21 is closed from Highway 86 to Southampton.
Grey Road 4 from Grey Road 124 to Grey road 2 is closed.
Grey Road 4 is closed both directions between Durham and Flesherton due to poor weather conditions.
Grey Road 9 from Grey Road 2 to County Road 124 also is closed due to weather.
The Bruce County Roads Department reported visibility ranges from nil to poor.
Wellington OPP is urging motorists to avoid any unnecessary travel this afternoon and evening due to deteriorating weather conditions particularly in northern Wellington County. Whiteout conditions are being reported.
There is a blizzard warning for southern Bruce and Southern Grey counties. There is a snow squall warning in effect for Bruce, Grey, Huron, and Northern Perth Counties. A snow squall watch has been issued for Southern Perth and a wind warning for Bruce, and Northern Grey Counties.
Environment Canada says heavy snowfall will occur with this snow squall, resulting in a quick 5 to 10 cm of new accumulation. Strong winds gusting up to 60 km/h will also occur this afternoon which will result in reduced visibilities.
