A 45-year-old Owen Sound native is facing numerous charges following a recent traffic stop in Hanover.
On February 28th at 10:25 p.m., Hanover Police Service officers pulled over a suspect vehicle on 13th Avenue in Hanover. A search of the vehicle resulted in the alleged seizure of a prohibited knife, a collapsible baton, methamphetamine and various cannabis products. Police discovered the accused was on bail conditions from the Owen Sound Police Service stemming from an incident in July of 2020 involving drug and weapons charges.
As a result, Hanover Police Service arrested and charged the 45-year-old without incident. The accused is charged with Possession of a Prohibited Weapon, Fail to Comply with a Release Order, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Unlawful Possession of Cannabis under the Federal Cannabis Act. The accused was granted bail at Walkerton Bail Court on March 2nd, with a court date set for April 7th in Walkerton to answer to the charges, which have yet to be proven in court.
