Today is the last day to submit applications for an adult dual credit called Foundations of Personal Support being offered by the Huron Perth Catholic District School Board in conjunction with Fanshawe College.
HPCDSB spokesperson, Aideen Moss, explains the program is in response to the serious shortage of Personal Support Workers that has been exposed by the current pandemic. Moss says it's an adult dual credit.
"It is an adult dual credit, so students are receiving a high school credit while they're also receiving a college credit free of charge and it's great for students who are finishing up or working towards earning their Ontario Secondary School diploma, as well as get a chance to explore a college program."
Moss says they're looking for high school students that must be within four credits of earning their Ontario Secondary School diploma or adult learners.
"So within four credits of earning the Ontario Secondary School diploma or an adult learner. So at the same time, some of our students are wrapping up high school are candidates, much like people who have been out of school and didn't finish their diploma credits."
Anyone looking for more information about the free Personal Support Worker Training program can email Aideen Moss at amoss@hpcdsb.ca by the end of today (March 10th).
