Family donates to upgrade ball diamond in Mount Forest

Mount Forest baseball players are the beneficiaries of a $100,000 gift from the local Donald family.

The family wants to pay for upgrades including a red clay infield for the ball diamond at the south end of the Mount Forest fairgrounds, making it the first such ball diamond in Wellington North.

As a result of the gift, the ball diamond, formerly known as the Optimist Ball Diamond, will be named The Donald Softball Diamond for the next 20 years.

Wellington North will contribute $30,000 to the project, providing improvements to the drainage on the ball diamond, and for removal of the stone dust that is now in the infield.
