Partnership leads creates the Compassionate Centre in South Huron

The municipality of South Huron has formed a partnership with Noah's Arc, and the Perth Huron United Way to create a place for some of the most vulnerable members of society.

Noah's Arc is located at the Exeter Pentecostal Tabernacle on the south side of the town.

The new initiative is called the Compassionate Centre.

"It provides an opportunity for people who are the most vulnerable in our society to have a place to meet their most basic needs, probably a light meal, a chance to shower, a place to meet with other sources, other services," said South Huron Mayor George Finch. "A lot of these people don't really have access to these services, they fall between the cracks. So what this will do, this will help to provide a common place, a stable place for them to be."

Finch points out people sometimes get into a situation that is not a particularly good one, but it is what they're used to and it's difficult for them to break that cycle.

The municipality is providing $10,000 to help cover some of the costs involved.
