A use of counterfeit cash at a local business is being investigated by police.
The South Bruce OPP were alerted after a counterfeit $20 bill was used at a local business in Chesley recently. Police are reminding people that using or offering counterfeit money is an offence listed in the Criminal Code of Canada that carries a maximum penalty of 14 years in jail upon conviction. With counterfeit money being detected in the area, police are asking that businesses be wary when accepting cash payments of any kind.
South Bruce OPP is asking anyone who may have any information regarding the use of counterfeit cash to immediately contact them or Crime Stoppers.
