Huron County's Planning and Development Department celebrated a special event this past week.
Planning Director, Sandra Weber, explains this month marks the 50th anniversary of the Huron County Planning and Development Department.
“We're excited to be having an on-line celebration and we have over fifty past and current staff joining us from literally across the country, right from British Columbia to Nova Scotia that have worked with the department over the past fifty years.”
Weber says they're also marking another special achievement.
“Huron County, under the leadership of Gary Davidson, our first Planning Director, had the first county official plan in the Province of Ontario, so the first approved county official plan and then when the 26 local official plans were developed, staff went and met with the communities.”
Weber says there are disadvantages to a virtual meeting, but on the positive side, they wouldn't have staff members joining them from all over the country if it wasn't a virtual meeting.
