The Huron-Bruce Provincial Liberal Association has nominated its candidate for the next provincial election.
Ontario Liberal Leader Steven Del Duca participated in the virtual nomination meeting on Saturday when Shelley Blackmore was acclaimed.
Shelley and her family have lived in Howick Township for over two decades and has volunteered with the Board of Directors of the Huron Perth Centre for Youth and Children, was Chair of the North Perth Community Committee, and was part of the development of a Social Services Hub in North Perth.
She spent over 30 years in the local education system as a teacher and principal.
“Politics and public office are all about service to the community, and the interests of the riding. It’s my job to see to it that government policy ensures the communities of Huron-Bruce have their needs met from cradle to grave, ” stated Blackmore in a release.
"Shelley is the strong advocate that Huron-Bruce needs, and understands the importance of improving our education system to give our children the best possible start in life," said OLP Leader Steven Del Duca. "She will be an excellent voice for her community at Queen's Park, and I'm glad to have her on our team."
The 43rd Ontario General Election will be held on or before June 2, 2022.
