Kincardine hosts inclusion workshops

The Municipality of Kincardine is moving forward on a commitment to advance inclusion, diversity, equity, and access. The municipality is hosting three ‘Understanding and Applying Anti-oppression Workshops’. this fall

The workshops are expected to engage participants in conversations about anti-oppression, equity, anti-racism, and inclusion. The two hour seminars will also while exploring common language used to describe individual experiences.

The sessions will be lead by Parul Pandya of Community Impact Consulting, who is being described as a community builder, consultant, programmer, and producer.

The first workshop will go October 7th starting at 10 am, followed by two more sessions, one oct. 21st, and one on November 4th.

“Everyone holds unconscious bias and beliefs,” says Lorie Fioze, Municipality of Kincardine’s Manager of Strategic Initiatives. “Learning and awareness is a great first step and these workshops will certainly get the conversation started.”

Participants can also explore ways to incite positive action within their communities. Limited spaces are available to members of the public, municipal staff, committee members, and volunteers at one of the following three sessions: • October 7, 10:00am – noon • October 21, 1:00 – 3:00pm • November 4, 5:30 – 7:30pm To register, visit www.surveymonkey.com/r/IDEAworkshopkincardine.
