Chapman's hopes kids stories can scoop up some affordable housing money

Chapman's Ice Cream is pledging $50,000 to support families in need to affordable housing.

The money will be used in Habitat for Humanity's "Meaning of Home" contest, which will see students in Grades 4, 5 and 6 submit an essay, story or poem about what home means to them.

The winner of each grade will be awarded with a $30,000 grant for their local Habitat for Humanity Organization.

So far in 2021, the contest has attracted a record-high 12,000 students participating, and has raised $1.7-million to date, helping Habitat for Humanity build 46 homes.
