Rural Ontario Institute extends application deadline for Rural Change Makers program

The Rural Institute of Ontario is extending the deadline for applications to its 2021 Change Makers Program.

Leadership Projects Director, Gabrielle Ferguson, says they're looking for as many as 30 motivated young adults who will participate in a series of developmental training sessions and together undertake experiential learning opportunities to realize rural development outcomes identified by their communities. Ferguson says they've extended the deadline.

"So the reason for doing that is we have had applications in and we want to make sure that we get representation from all across Ontario. So for those that are in rural communities in the east and up north and far south west, think about this opportunity."

Ferguson says she also encourages anyone who knows someone that fits the bill to nominate them.

"Those of you who know people between the ages of 18 and 29 that are interested and you think they would be great champions for taking on an issue in their community and engaging with community members, then nominate them."

Ferguson says they're hosting two information webinars on the Change Makers Program. The first runs tonight (October 27th) and the second one runs on November 5th, both of them on zoom from 6:30 p.m. til 7:30 p.m. More information and the link to join can be found on the Rural Ontario Institute web site. The application deadline has been extended to November 14th.
