Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP's support for medical isotopes moves through Legislature

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker's bill to support medical isotope production has been carried in the Legislature.

Walker's Private Member's Bill, called the "Championing Made-In-Ontario Isotopes Resolution" received support from across the aisle as he told the legislature on Tuesday "Isotopes are the cornerstone of nuclear medicine, and a branch of medical science that uses radioactive sources to diagnose, characterize and treat diseases of many types".

Walks tells CKNXNewsToday.ca that it will have a big impact.

"This is something that is going to impact people in our community, province, country and frankly across the world. I think it was a great day, and was honoured to be the person that championed it, and moved it forward," said Walker.

Walker adds the bill will allow Ontario to maintain its standing as a world leader in the isotope industry.
