Three Minto Fire departments worked to douse a large blaze on Norman street in Palmerston
The fire was reported about 9 am Monday in a vacant building, and crews had the flames out by mid afternoon. No one was in the building and there are no injuries reported.
Listowel and Harriston aerial trucks were called to assist, alongside firefighters from Drayton and Moorefield. An excavator was brought to the scene to knock the structure down.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation and officials are working on determining a damage estimate at this time. Anyone who was witness to the fire or may have information about the fire is asked to call Crime Stoppers or the North Wellington OPP Operations Centre.
All residents who were evacuated are now able to return to their houses. The warming centre at the Palmerston arena is now closed. Roads in the area are open.
