Huron Perth Public Health advised of person under investigation for Omicron variant

Huron-Perth Public Health says it has been advised of a person under investigation for the Omicron variant.

In a media release, the health unit says its investigation includes the "Pink at the Rink" tournament held recently in South Huron. HPPH says it is working with event organizers to identify high-risk contacts, but they do recommend anyone that was in attendance at Stephen Arena in South Huron, as well as Hensall Arena in Bluewater on Saturday, December 4th monitor for symptoms, and if they have symptoms, to self-isolate.

The release notes that the case screened positive for the "S gene target failure", which is a marker for the Omicron variant, but HPPH is still waiting on Whole Genome Sequencing of the samples.

According to the South Huron Sabres' website, the 2021 Pink in the Rink tournament featured over 90 teams and 1,200 girls.
