COVID cases climb locally

The number of COVID-19 cases continues to climb thanks to the Omicron variant.

Public Health Ontario reported 9,418 cases Monday.

Officials warn that figure is likely an under count due to issues with testing availability.

The Grey Bruce Health Unit reported another 76 cases Monday including six people who are in hospital. There are 462 active cases in the two counties.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health reported 667 new cases in the period from Friday to Monday morning. Of those new cases 151 were in Wellington County alone.

As of Monday, Huron Perth Public Health was reporting 343 active cases.

Just before the weekend, HPPH issued a note stating that testing and tracing capacity are limited.

For this week, HPPH notes that the GO Vaxx bus will not be in South Huron on Wednesday and the clinic has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.
