A Wiarton man faces several impaired driving related charges after a mid-morning crash in Owen Sound on Tuesday.
At around 11:15 a.m., Owen Sound police responded to a report of a crash near 8th Street East and 9th Avenue East.
Police say a black Mazda was travelling north on 9th Avenue when it rear-ended a silver Subaru. While the vehicles both sustained significant damage, no one was injured.
During the investigation, an officer alleged that the driver of the Mazda had been drinking alcohol. The officer conducted a roadside breath test which the man reportedly failed.
As a result, the 34-year-old man was arrested and charged with impaired driving with an excess blood alcohol limit. He was taken back to police headquarters where he later provided two more breath samples, both of which, were above the legal limit police say.
The man has also been charged with careless driving and driving without insurance. Police issued the accused a 90-day driving suspension and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
He is scheduled to appear in court in February.
