Wiarton Willie has made his prediction and it's going against a couple of his cohorts.
Willie is calling for an early spring.
Nova Scotia's Shubenacadie Sam and Pensylvania's Punxsutawney Phil who both predicted earlier Wednesday morning of six more weeks of winter.
Before the prediction, South Bruce Peninsula Mayor Janice Jackson thanked the small crowd as the event had to be virtual.
"Thank-you for being here, and I'm so sorry we don't have 1,000 people here. It's a little bit different but the show must go on.," said Jackson.
Organizers are aiming for a live event and a bigger crowd in 2023.
After the introductions of the Willie's Shadow Cabinet, the town criers woke up the ground hog so he could tell us what to expect.
