Tree planting on Boiler Beach Road

The Lake Huron Coastal Centre's Coastal Restoration Technician is looking volunteers to help with a restoration project on Boiler Beach Road in Huron-Kinloss.

Holly Westbrook says they're hoping to restore the shoreline to reinforce it against any future high water or high wind events to protect the infrastructure from any damage.

"Winds change all the time and water levels are expected to rise again, so we're hoping to get this restoration done before that all happens,” said Westbrook.

The restoration will involve two separate projects.

“We're doing a volunteer tree-planting event on Saturday, April 30th from 10 a.m. to noon. And then we're doing a volunteer invasive species removal event at the same location on Saturday, June 11th between 10 a.m. and noon."

Westbrook says they'll likely need at least 50 volunteers to get 1,000 trees planted on April 30th.

Anyone interested in joining them can get more information and register on the Lake Huron Coastal Centre website.
