Artists Alley back for the summer in Clinton

Clinton's now famous Artists Alley is back for the summer.

Community Improvement Coordinator, Angela Smith, says they have almost two hundred works of art on display at this point. She says about thirty of them are new ones and they're expecting a couple more and that should push them to two hundred.

Smith says the response from the community has been very encouraging.

"It took us two days to install the art and midway through the first day, people were already flooding the alley to look at the paintings. So people were on the lookout and they're coming in droves to see them, which is great."

The combination of the great summer weather and the revitalized main street has helped to get people out and walking around town as well.

"Everything looks so great and we're just welcoming guests on the street as well so it's easy to get there now. We re-installed the umbrella sky, so there are new umbrellas in the alley and there is a picnic table below so that you can have a picnic."

The Artists Alley was introduced with the re-construction of the main street got underway and people had to use the back entrances to enter the shops. Smith says she just thought having some art work on display that was donated by local artists, would brighten up the back alleys and it was so popular, it's back for another year. Or maybe more.
