Officials at the St. Marys Memorial Hospital are closing the emergency room overnight on Friday due to staff shortages.
The Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance (HPHA) announced at 7 p.m. Friday that the hospital's emergency department would be closing, effective immediately, due to sudden health human resource shortages.
The emergency room will reopen on Saturday at 7 a.m. for regular 24-hour operation.
"Anyone requiring immediate medical attention should call 9-1-1. Paramedics will remain available to the community and will re-route to the nearest available Emergency Department to ensure local residents continue to have access to the emergency services they need," a release from HPHA read.
Those in need of non-urgent health care are advised to call Health Connect Ontario at 811.
