UWPH announces new fundraising goal

The United Way of Perth Huron hosted a campaign kick-off event yesterday in Wingham.

Resource Development Manager, Lisa Harper, says the event is a great way to bring awareness to their organization, and announce this year’s fundraising goal.

“This year’s goal is $2,289,671. Last year’s [goal] was just over $2,002,000. So we’re looking at a few hundred thousand more this year.”

Harper says this goal will help them continue to aid members of the community in need.

“We deal with those unignorable issues in the area, such as housing and homelessness, poverty, mental health and addiction. All funding that we receive goes into supporting those programs that are up and running in our local area.”

“Supporting the United Way supports your neighbour, your family, your friends. We are extremely pleased with the giving spirit that is still out there, despite the times. We are super excited and looking ahead to a fantastic year,” added Harper.

Last year, United Way Perth-Huron marked the end of the 2021 annual campaign by announcing a record-breaking total of $2,236,904. Harper hopes with enough community involvement, that record can be broken again this year.
