Another local blood donation clinic coming to North Wellington

Canadian Blood Services is bringing another donation event to Mount Forest.

On Tuesday, October 4, the Mount Forest and District Sports Complex will host another Canadian Blood Services blood donation event from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. The event will be by appointment only. Canadian Blood Services continues to be desperate for new donors, as the pandemic reduced their donor base by almost 31,000. A release states that each year, over 100,000 new donors are needed to make up for those who can no longer donate. One in two people in Canada are eligible to donate blood, plasma, and platelets, but only one in 81 does.

The release also shares that O-negative blood donors are especially needed because this blood type can be transfused to any patient. You can book a donation appointment by visiting blood.ca or calling 1-888-2-DONATE.
