Midwestern Ontario school boards update plans as CUPE members return to class

With striking education workers leaving the picket lines and returning to school, area school boards are updating their plans.

The union announced Monday that it will dismantle its picket lines on Tuesday and 55,000 education support workers will return to their jobs.

The Huron Perth Catholic District School Board says itwill welcome students back to in-person learning Tuesday

The Upper Grand District School Board says all schools will remain open to students for in-person learning, with no plans to shift to remote learning this week.

The Bruce Grey Catholic District School Board also announced its secondary and elementary schools will be open Tuesday and will run their regular programs. School buses and Before and After school programs will run as scheduled.

The Bluewater District School Board welcomed Monday’s announcement as it ensures schools will continue to remain open to students. Extra-curricular activities, child care, before and after care programs in schools will resume.
