Perth-Wellington MPP Matthew Rae has announced infrastructure funding for municipalities in his riding.
Rae unveiled $14 million in infrastructure project funding is coming to municipalities in Perth and Wellington counties in 2023. The funding is coming from the $400 million Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund. The money can be used by member municipalities to help enhance or repair local bridges, roads, water or wastewater facilities. The City of Stratford will receive the biggest payout for one community, with just over $2.7 million set aside for the city.
The funding allocation is based on a government formula that recognizes the different needs and economic conditions of communities.
“Our government is helping our local municipalities address critical infrastructure needs, such as road, bridge, water and wastewater projects,” said MPP Rae. “In 2021, our government committed to doubling the funding under OCIF for the next five years. These funds will help our local municipalities undertake critical infrastructure projects, while reducing the impact on their budgets.”
