New sidewalk in village should be ready soon

The Mayor of Bluewater says the plan to build a sidewalk for cyclists and pedestrians leaving the Foodland Store at the south end of Bayfield and travelling back into Bayfield is proceeding.

Paul Klopp says the plan calls for a connecting link there with the sidewalk.

“There's a connecting link there with the sidewalk. There's been great public support for this and it was in our budget and its maybe taken a little longer than what we hoped to have it ready, but it is a go and I'm assuming we're going to get it done in the spring," Klopp explained.

Klopp says once it's completed cyclists and pedestrians or people pushing strollers will be able to use the sidewalk.

“So you go out to Foodland on a sidewalk instead of going out onto the road or on the grass. So it would be pedestrians as well as small vehicles, so people don't have to walk on the pavement or the gravel. It's actually a sidewalk," said Klopp.

Klopp adds it's taking longer than they thought it would but they're hoping to be able to finish it this spring.
