South Huron council finalized the 2023 budget at Monday's meeting.
“The increase on the budget will be a tax rate increase over the previous year 2.21 per cent in wards one and three and in ward two it will be .78 per cent," Mayor George Finch said." We've been very fiscally responsible over the last year and our staff were projecting what the cost would be so that comes out to where we are today.”
Finch added they are still delivering the service they need to deliver and they'll keep moving forward on that.
“We were actually mindful of the inflationary pressures affecting our community and those pressures are being felt by the municipality also, but we've kept the tax rate to a bare minimum, even with those inflationary costs,” said Finch.
