South Huron's Vitality Fund is now accepting applications for funding for this year.
Tom Prout is the Chair of the South Huron Community Fund Committee. Prout says the Vitality Fund provides small grants to organizations offering community programs, events, and activities in South Huron.
“The fund was set up with that in mind and the Fund was created with donations from individuals and families and municipalities and this fund will continue on and on because the capital is invested and they give away about five per cent of the earnings each year," Prout shared.
So as the fund grows, which Prout says it is, there will be more and more money to give away.
Any community group is eligible to apply and Prout explains, if they're not a registered group, they can find a group that is registered and then partner with that group. He says the Vitality Fund is only three years old but groups are starting to know they're there. He says last year they had about sixteen applications.
“Last year for example we had the Creative Arts Centre which partnered with the Exeter United Church. We had the Exeter Skating Club that partnered with Big Brothers and Big Sisters to provide opportunities for children to learn how to skate and the Food Bank Distribution Centre," added Prout.
Applications and more information about the Vitality Fund are available on line on the Sunset Community Foundation web site.
