Wingham restaurant owner convicted of ignoring some pandemic health restrictions

A Goderich judge has convicted the owner of a Wingham restaurant after inspectors accused the businessman of not applying health restrictions during the pandemic.

Stephen Hill was convicted Tuesday on one count of fail to comply with the Health Protection Act, one count of failure to produce a safety plan, and one count of failure to comply with getting proof of vaccine from patrons.

Inspectors visited Hill's restaurant, Buck and Jo's, on several occasions to enforce health restrictions that were in place during the pandemic.

Hill has to pay fines totaling $5,500 within the next year.

Hill's wife, Jo, was found not guilty.
