Grey Bruce Health Services has updated their masking policy in their hospitals.
Effective immediately, mandatory masking will no longer be required by members of the public in GBHS hospitals. However, masks will still be required in emergency departments, for visitors in patient rooms and for those who enter GBHS hospitals while symptomatic. They also note that patients or visitors are still encouraged to distance appropriately in waiting areas.
"Those patients who wish to continue masking in GBHS hospitals are encouraged to do so," GBHS said in a statement released Thursday. "Masks will remain available for those who prefer to wear one."
GBHS notes that they will continue monitoring COVID-19 status locally, and universal masking may be reintroduced at a later date if it is deemed necessary to prevent harm to vulnerable patients, and to ensure capacity in local hospitals is not overwhelmed.
