North Perth names Citizen of the Year, Inspiration Award winners

The Municipality of North Perth celebrated National Volunteer Week by handing out the Citizen of the Year and Inspiration awards for 2022.

For work with the municipality, Maitland Conservation Foundation and countless several volunteer boards and committees, Vince Judge was named the 2022 Norm Stirling Citizen of the Year.

Inspiration Award recipients included Hollie and Birdie Chavarria, Sherry Hamilton, Marybelle Dittmer and Cindy Stevens. A new honour that is part of the Celebrate North Perth initiative, the Inspiration Award recognizes an individual who inspires others through their outstanding accomplishment or service to the community within the preceding year.

The Volunteer Appreciation Night was held at the Elma Memorial Community Centre in Atwood on Tuesday. Organizers say the first in-person event since COVID-19 saw a great turnout from the community.
