OPP recover estimated $300K in drugs, weapons during Kitchener bust

OPP in Perth, Huron, and Wellington Counties teamed up to arrest one Kitchener man and recover drugs and weapons worth an estimated $300,000.

As a result of an ongoing investigation, police executed a warrant at a residence on Fernwood Place in Kitchener on Thursday.

Officers say they seized suspected methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine, along with two firearms, brass knuckles, gold, and cash.

A 39-year-old man now faces several charges for possession for the purpose of trafficking, and charges for unauthorized possession of a firearm.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

"This investigation will certainly have a positive impact on public safety,” said Dave Sinko, interim detachment commander for Perth County OPP in a release. “The OPP continues to take appropriate enforcement action to ensure our communities are safe. We appreciate the work of all the assisting units in bringing this investigation to a successful conclusion."

Anyone with information regarding this or any incident is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or report anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
