Bruce County, Saugeen Shores join forces to enhance housing support

Bruce County and the Town of Saugeen Shores have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance the Municipal Housing Allowance program and provide support to residents.

Saugeen Shores has committed $75,000 for the next year to implement the Saugeen Shores Municipal Housing Allowance under the County's program, helping an additional 10 eligible households in the area.

The Municipal Housing Allowance program aims to address affordability for low-income households renting in Bruce County.

Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau expressed the importance of facilitating housing for lower-income families and thanked the County for their efforts in achieving this goal, while Bruce County Warden Chris Peabody highlighted the significance of community partnerships in removing barriers and creating opportunities for individuals and families to improve their quality of life.

To apply for housing, interested individuals can do so online, call the Bruce County Community Housing Registry at 1-877-396-3450, or obtain an application form from various locations, including Bruce County Administration Centre in Walkerton, and hubs in Kincardine, Port Elgin and Wiarton.
