Tender for drawings for new aquatic facility awarded by council

North Perth is looking into getting a new local aquatic facility.

Manager of Facilities, Jeff Newell, says the town is having drawings commissioned to see what a future facility could look like, and to investigate possible site for it in Listowel.

"We're excited to look at replacing the Listowel Kinsmen Pool with a newer facility as that one has come to the end of its life cycle. The drawings have been awarded to an architect by the name of Tillmann, Ruth and Robinson, and they'll be doing drawings and looking at potential locations for the replacement of that pool," Newell stated.

North Perth wants to ensure that a new facility can be ready in the next few years, and Newell says they want one to better serve the community.

"The key will be for us to look at barrier free access to both the bath house, as well as the pool surface and the tank itself. So those will be some of the highlights of it. We're looking to address both active and passive recreation in the aquatic environment, and we're excited about that," added Newell.

Newell notes that the project is a number of years away, as the architects present renderings and potential locations in Listowel that would be suitable for the facility.
