Late night mischief at local restaurant leads to tazing

Saugeen Shores Police used a taser to arrest a suspect who allegedly damaged a Southampton restaurant on July 21.

Police were dispatched to Duffy’s Fish and Chips for a report of an unwanted person around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, July 21.

When officers arrived on scene, they say the suspect fled on foot.

Police allege that once they caught up to the suspect, they attempted to place him under arrest and he resisted. Officers then used a taser to complete the arrest.

The suspect, a 28-year-old man from Southampton, had to be treated in local hospital for injuries to his arms and hands, which police say was a result of him breaking several windows at the local establishment.

The man now faces charges for causing a disturbance, trespassing at night, resisting arrest and two counts of mischief.

He has since been released from custody with a future court date.
