More local emergency departments are bracing for temporary closures due to staffing challenges.
The South Bruce Grey Health Centre has amended a closure for one of its hospital emergency departments. The organization says the emergency department in Durham will no longer close on Friday, July 28. However, the ED in Durham will still close at 5 a.m. on Saturday, July 29. It will not re-open until 7 a.m. on Monday, July 31.
Additionally, the emergency department in Walkerton will still close on Sunday, July 30 at 5 p.m., and will re-open Monday, July 31 at 7 a.m.
Ambulance by-pass has been undertaken to divert patients to the nearest open ED.
