Crime spree results in series of charges

A Central Huron resident is staring down a lengthy list of charges following a recent crime spree in Clinton.

Huron County OPP responded on August 1 at 6:30 p.m. following reports of numerous assaults in the downtown core of Clinton.

Officers arrived and determined that between 6 p.m. and their arrival, an adult male had allegedly committed a series of assaults on at least four separate female victims.

Police also say the suspect committed an instance of mischief, caused a disturbance and stole from a downtown business.

A 31-year-old from Central Huron faces charges including four counts of sexual assault, one count of assault and theft under $5,000, among others. There are sixteen charges in total.

The accused is currently in custody with a bail court appearance scheduled for August 2, 2023, at the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich.
