HSKWSP searching for hospice home for dog with cancer

The Humane Society of Kitchener Waterloo and Stratford Perth (HSKWSP) is looking for the public's help finding a hospice home for Maisy.

Maisy is a nine-year-old pup who came into the HSKWSP in rough condition. She had a bladder infection, ear infection, and several masses on her body.

"After being examined by our medical team, she received two surgeries to spay her and remove mammary masses from her body," said Amanda Hawkins, senior manager of animal care at the HSKWSP. "Once biopsied, it was confirmed they were cancerous."

Now, the Humane Society is looking for a loving home to give Maisy the best life as it nears the end. She is described as a sweet and friendly girl who adores affection. The HSKWSP said she continues to be comfortable, happy, and thriving.

"We will admit that the time she has left with us may be limited, but we can't say for sure," said Hawkins. "Because we know her family may be taking on a larger veterinary cost within the next year, we are waiving her adoption fee."

If you are interested in adopting or learning more about Maisy and providing her a loving hospice home, the HSKWSP is asking you call 519-745-5615 ext. 250.
