A local track and field star is racing in the World Athletic Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
Lucknow's own Julie-Anne Staehli will compete for Canada at the event, running in the 5,000 metre race, her specialty. Staehli recently won the 10K title at the Canadian Cross Country Championships in Ottawa in 2022.
She has also won the 2021 Olympic Trials and 2022 5K Road Championships. Staehli competed in Tokyo in 2020 in the 5,000 metre run, is the Canadian record holder in the indoor 2 Mile, has the second fastest Canadian indoor 3,000 metre and is the 4th fastest Canadian of all time in the 5,000 metre.
50 plus track and field athletes in total are competing in Hungary. Julie-Anne flew to Barcelona on August 12 and will be competing on Wednesday, August 23 (round1) at 5 a.m. EST. For more information please go to:
