This year, Bruce Power's $20,000 donation to Bruce Grey Child and Family Services (BGCFS) will help send 107 local kids and teenagers to camp.
Since 2013, Bruce Power has contributed more than $180,000 to the BGCFS camp program, transforming the lives of many local kids and leaving them with priceless memories.
“At Bruce Power, we are extremely proud to deliver clean, reliable power and produce cancer-fighting medical isotopes, but we certainly can’t do this alone,” said John Peevers, Bruce Power’s Director of Community and Media Relations, and Economic Development. “Bruce Power relies on the support of our community to operate in the Clean Energy Frontier, so we are thrilled to give back by supporting programs that broaden opportunities for local youth.”
Parents feel the opportunity to go to camp has helped their kids build support networks with peers and counsellors from Camp Presqu'ile, Glendale Farms, and many other participating camps.
“Bruce Power has been integral to our ability to support children in Grey and Bruce having the opportunity to attend camp,” said Chad Zimmerman, Business Administrator at BGCFS. “The financial support for the Camp Program, as well as their support for other community initiatives, benefit the children, youth and families that Bruce Grey Child and Family Services work with. In addition to being a major employer for the area, the contributions to social improvements by Bruce Power are immeasurable.”
