Owen Sound area hazardous waste collection set for Saturday

Owen Sound area residents can get rid of hazardous materials at an event Saturday, August 19.

Another Household Hazardous Waste Day will take place at the Public Works Facility (1900 20th Street East) from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The collection day helps divert dangerous materials from landfills and waterways, and ensures they are recycled or otherwise disposed of in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.

It's open to residents from Owen Sound, Chatsworth, Georgian Bluffs, Grey Highlands and Meaford.

"When attending the events, and to help move through the line as quickly as possible, residents are asked to bring valid ID indicating their home address from the townships listed below. They are also asked to complete the Household Hazardous Waste Form ahead of time at OwenSound.ca/WasteForm," noted a released from the city of Owen Sound.

Hazardous waste from commercial, industrial, or farm operations cannot be accepted.
