Suspect caught selling stolen goods on Facebook

A 28-year-old from Meaford was arrested after getting caught trying to sell stolen tools online.

Grey Bruce OPP say on Aug. 15, they received a report that tools were taken from inside a truck parked at a mechanics shop for a couple of days on Highway 6&21. There were no suspects of surveillance video at the time.

Then yesterday, the owner of the tools contacted police to say he saw them being sold on Facebook Marketplace and set up a time to meet the suspect in Meaford.

As a result, a 28-year-old has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime (under $5000) and trafficking in stolen goods (under $5000).

The accused has been released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound next month.
