The Wingham and District Hospital will be closing overnight for Labour Day Weekend, starting on Friday.
The ER will close at 1 p.m. on September 1 and reopen the following morning at 7 a.m.
The emergency department will close at 5 p.m. on Saturday, September 2 and open again at 7 a.m. on Monday, September 4.
The Listowel and Wingham Hospital Alliance said extensive efforts were made to maximize the availability of emergency room services over the long weekend, including providing consistent daytime hours.
Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency and ambulances will be rerouted to the nearest available emergency department.
Nearby hospitals include Listowel, Goderich, Palmerston, Seaforth and Kincardine.
