The Listowel Wingham Hospitals Alliance states, "This closure is a last resort due to staffing shortages, and we deeply regret having to take this action".
During the closure, ambulances will bypass the hospital and instead travel to the nearest open ER.
Hospitals in southwestern Ontario are feeling the effects of underfunding, according to a new report by the CCPA.
Fortunately, no children were on board the bus, but the drivers of both vehicles were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
